As I suspected, this bright yellow clutch made its way into my closet over the weekend and has already become one of my new favorites.  The enormous size, fun color, and gold accents make it exactly what I wanted and at $21, I couldn't pass it up.  I pulled these wide leg jeans out of the back of my closet recently and have been wearing them everywhere.  Although I haven't given up on skinny jeans, it's nice to mix it up and the wide legs always seem so much more comfortable to me.  Are you embracing wide leg denim?

Rhinestone Cowboy

These Ariat Cowboy boots have quickly become a wardrobe favorite of mine, making me temporarily abandon all other boots in my closet.  I love mixing and matching different looks to create a "balanced" outfit and these boots are perfect for that.  I've been pairing them with feminine pieces (such as lace and florals) as well as edgier items like this clear studded clutch.  What's your go-to item to create an interesting dynamic to an outfit?

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day?  I broke all the rules over the weekend and participated in Carrie's White Denim in Winter Challenge (although I swapped out the white denim for these white pants).  It gave me the perfect opportunity to wear the faux fur vintage coat I borrowed from my mom a few months ago.  I have to admit, the fur coat made me feel glamorous and silly all at the same time.  Gabe had a good laugh and said it looked like an animal had attacked me.  I guess we're all entitled to an opinion, but this jacket made me feel like Linda Evans on an episode of Dynasty and that makes me happy.

Shades of Purple

One of my favorite looks right now is the pairing of monochromatic colors.  As I mentioned here, purple has always been a favorite of mine and a closet staple.  I've had this BCBG blouse for years and was excited to reinvent it with this look.  My key to mixing monochromatics is using slightly different hues of the same color and varying the textures, which is why I loved the swiss dot blouse with the silky skirt.  These colors remind me of Spring, which cannot come soon enough, in my opinion.

Summer in January

The weather in L.A. has been gorgeous lately-sunny, clear, and 80 degrees.  While I'm tempted to throw on all my sun dresses and sandals, something feels awkward about wearing summer clothes in January.  Last weekend I decided to remix one of my favorite maxi dresses by layering it with this plaid shirt (last seen here) and loved the look and versatility of the combination.  It worked well for easing me into the warm temperatures and hopefully by this weekend I'll be ready for complete summer attire (weather permitting).

Wine and Cheese

Whitney and Jon recently had us over for a wine and cheese party, which was a huge hit!  What could beat a night filled with cheese, wine, chocolate, and good friends.  I tried my best not to hover over the cheese table all evening, but inevitably, that's where you could find me.  I'm very predictable like that.

As I mentioned here, cute/functional/appropriate work clothes are hard to come by.  I'm constantly looking for great work dresses, only to find they're either uncomfortable or inappropriate for the office.  Enter Reality In Style.  They offer high quality work clothes that fit the bill and can easily transition to after office dinner or drinks. When they offered to send me this dress, I was excited to try it out. Gabe and I began our "holiday dress up date" tradition last night with dinner out, then returning home to decorate our apartment for the season. After listening to Christmas music all weekend, I felt cheery and festive, which was reflected in my choice of outfits. I've now decided sequins and jewel tones are my new favorite combination for this time of year. What do you wear when feeling festive?
