American Eagle Basics

I've only been in American Eagle a few times, but I've recently decided that needs to change. Last summer, I found a few great items there (a plaid shirt, colorful bandeaus, and the BEST pair of navy distressed boyfriend pants ever) and I recently looked online and found so many other reasonably priced things that I love. They have the best beachy basics and I'm hoping to stop by this weekend and come home with a few new summer staples.

big floppy straw hats $19.95

Pretty summer dresses $44.50

drop shoulder tees $11.95

basic tanks in fun colors $11.95

colorful shorts $29.50

Camouflage shorts $44.50 (I actually just bought a pair from Target recently that look really similar)

They even have pretty cocktail rings $15.50

What's your "go to" store for summer basics?

I love going to Forever 21 for cute summer things and I also love J.Crew. AE used to be my go-to store years ago but I have drifted away. I may need to head back in there!!! Love those yellow shorts! Too cute! :)

I just popped in to AE on Monday as my last hurrah before the June Shopping Moratorium begins. I hadn't shopped there in ages but was pleasantly surprised by the great styles at fabulous prices. I left with the second dress ad a few other items I'll be posting about next week! Great minds think alike :)

Have a Happy Friday!

i love the hat! last few times i went there and tried on the shorts i felt that they were way too short and I also thought to myself "I'm only 28, I guess I have passed the age where I can't wear short shorts anymore..."

or maybe I just didn't feel comfortable in them...but the sundresses are darling...i picked one of those up last year and a few summery tops as well. the hat is a must have as in i think i will get dressed and go get that now-or i could order it online!
smiles and happy friday!

I don't know if I have a go to store yet :( I guess it's H&M for cheap things but I'm still getting a sense of the stores in this country...no AE :(

You have really been looking for a big floppy hat for summer. I think all of those things would look great on you!
I feel too old just walking by that store.

I worked at AE one summer in college, and since I stopped working there haven't really ever been back. I guess it just brought back too many bad memories, hah! I love that dress though, so that might have to change!

This is such a great and affordable store. I used to go here all the time in college, and need to go back. I still have a ton of their tanks and shorts for the summer, so even though I haven't gone in a few years, they still are my go-to for beachwear.

Have a great weekend Val!

Yeah AE went through a phase where I wanted nothing to do with them. Nothing. But they have been doing some really cute items that those of us not still in high school can use. I like all of the items you selected, especially that dress.
My favorite places for summer stuff is F21 (of course), Urban outfitters, and Pitya (a small chain found new college campuses, but also is on line). I also bought a lot of shorts this year from Old Navy when all of their shorts sold for 15 bucks.

Great finds at AE. I used to stop in there from time to time, but really got hooked on their Martin+Osa concept. Apparently I must have been one of few (although it was always really busy when I was in there which was often) because they sounded the gong on the division. So now AE has to be dead to me until I'm done pouting.

You might be twisting my arm a little here w/this post.

Have a great weekend!

Totally agree with you about AE! I actually just had a similar post, saying that I haven't shopped there in a while, but that they have some great buys!

Love the hat and the sundress! Maybe even enough to grit my teeth and go into an AE... which always makes me feel like an old fat oldie.

My "go to" summer store is most definitley The Gap. I always love how thin and comfy the tees are, plus they've been carrying tons of bright colors lately. Plus, plus...it's so cheap!

While I can't stand a head to toe 'american eagle' look, I have to admit I go through phases where I love soo many things in the store! I actually looked at that dress the other day, and thought it was so pretty! They have lots of pretty jewelry, too. For stocking up on cheap summer goodies, I plan to hit h&m! Hopefully next weekend!

Haha, I always feel like such a teenybopper when I say that American Eagle is one of my favorite stores... But they do make the cutest lace-trimmed tanks and some really pretty jewelry. I also love Target for basic tanks and Old Navy for pretty flat sandals.

I love American Eagle! I'm so happy to see it on another blog :) I hadn't shopped there in forever, but I just had a recent resurgence. They have so many adorable clothes, and a lot of what I bought has really lasted throughout the years. Happy shopping :)

What cute finds Valerie...I find my clothing at multiple places, all the way from Target to Forever21. It's fun but it's hard to stop, lol.

Ooh, I love that floppy hat! I may have to make a trip to AE before our beach trip later this week! Those colorful tanks are great too, especially the price. I usually go to F21, but I may need to add AE to the list!

NEED THAT HAT!!!! I kind of forget about AE. I should stop in more often! Definitely going this week to get that hat! :)

These are all great basics at reasonable prices. I especially love the hat, dress and cocktail ring.

I usually go to Old Navy for the basics and even the Gap.

One of the best things about AE is that you can wear it no matter what the age. I have shopped there FOREVER! And I always find cute things. Especially their basics! A plain T shirt from AE is good quality, and a good price. All of my jeans are from there too, and they fit better than any other brand I've tried. Thats just me though. I am glad you like AE as much as I do! For summer, I stick to AE, forever 21 and when I feel a splurge coming on I might head into Abercrombie for an investment. (I must say I'm growing out of that store, though). Besides that I am obsessed with marshalls for cheap and chic summer dresses!
