The Time Traveler's Wife

image via imdb
I finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife over the weekend and absolutely loved it! The concept of the "Chrono Displacement" disorder was hard to swallow at first, but once I did the book really took on a life of it's own. The story and characters developed beautifully over the course of many years and their love transcended the test of time. The author supposedly wrote the book as a metaphor for all her failed relationships. To me the book reinforced the fact that every relationship has obstacles that require kindness, care, and compromise to surmount and that the love of our lives may not be exactly what we envisioned. I'd highly recommend this book and I can't wait to see the movie now! It should arrive in the mail from Netflix today. Have any of you read the book or seen the movie? What did you think?

Loved the movie! But I am also a big Rachel MacAdams and Eric Bana fan.

Haven't read the book yet but it sounds interesting.

Okay, I have to admit, I had to stop reading after the first two sentences because I didn't want to find out more about the book. :) Although I probably deserve to know, because I bought the book last summer, read the first half and stopped, and then ended up letting one of my sisters read it, and haven't seen it since. Alright, I'm going to get it back and finish it because I really want to see the movie too.

I also enjoyed the book, but did find the time traveling thing a little confusing. I saw the movie as well and although I absolutely love Rachel McAdams, I thought the book was much better!

I read this last spring when I was in chicago and i thought it was awesomw that the book took place mostly in Chicago and MI :) I even made the BF read it, he liked it too. I have not seen the movie yet, I really want to though :)

I read the book, saw the movie, and went to a reading by the author. She seemed fascinating mostly by the science of the thing and not by the romance at all. And she said she had nothing to do with the making of the movie, that she actually hadn't seen it (as of last fall). I loved the movie, but it is a different sort of beast from the book.

Valerie,

I read the book first, then made Jimmy go see it with me (he isn't the chick flick type). Both are awesome! I can't wait to hear what you think of the movie. Rachel McAdams is AMAZING in it!

Great post!

One of my favourite books! I love this book, I have read it a couple of times.
I liked the movie, standing alone it was amazing, but compared to the book, its never the same. They left out a lot of Henry's life.

I actually just bought the book two weeks ago because I was having foot surgery and knew I'd need something to occupy my time in bed. But for some reason, I haven't yet read it. Mostly caught up with my blogs and DVR. I will definitely read it now. I love any big romance of true love against all odds. I can't wait to finish it and then see the movie. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, too! I just started following yours. Such lovely post and great style!

The movie was alright. Rachel McAdams did a really good job!

I didn't realy get into the book tho. I have a somewhat short attention span and the beginning just didn't grab me the way I thought it would.

I read the book and saw the movie. The book was MUCH better in my opinion. I thought the movie left out a lot.
