Cake Footballs

 half-time shenanigans
Superbowl Sunday turned out according to plan with lots of delicious food and treats.  I made these cake balls into the shape of footballs using yellow cake and cream cheese frosting and they were a big hit!  They tasted like a cross between a really dense gooey yellow cake and a donut and were so fun to make.  I used a yellow cake mix for the cake and this tried and true recipe for cream cheese frosting (adapted from Allrecipes.com).

Cream Cheese Frosting
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese softened
  • 6 ounces white chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
-To make the White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing: Melt the white chocolate and allow to cool to lukewarm. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in melted white chocolate and softened butter. Beat until it is the consistency of whipped cream.
