Sweet Lady Jane

Triple Berry Cake
via

Gabe with his birthday pie
As you've seen here and here, I have an intense sweet tooth and I'm no stranger to Los Angeles bakeries. I've tried countless pies, cakes, cupcakes, and macarons from almost every known bakery in the area and have continued to hold Sweet Lady Jane in the highest regard on the matter. Not only are their dense, moist, flavorful cakes the best in town but their pies are second to none. Gabe is a pie connoisseur and requested blueberry pie as his "grooms cake" for our wedding a few years ago, so we've tried every pie in town. The pie from Sweet Lady Jane was in a class of its own, according to Gabe. No other store bought pie could even come close and we have consistently returned to the bakery for pies (every year for Gabe's birthday and any other special occasion) and cakes (make sure to try the triple berry cake). What are your "special occasion desserts"?

Wow, look at that birthday pie! Holy moly.

Lately, I've been a little obsessed with lemon meringue pie. Tangy lemon and chewy meringue. It's a recipe for disaster.

Mmmmm....dessert....

My favorite thing I made recently came from Orangette - it was her banana bread with chocolate chips and crystallized ginger, with home made whipped cream on top. Oh. So. Good.

Merci,

Thank you for the heads up on this bakery... I need to start a list of "places to visit in your own backyard!"

My favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake, but we also like berry or peach cobbler, apple pie or crisps... and LOVE ice cream- especially homemade:).

Good grief I kind of want to move in to Sweet Lady Jane - everything looks phenom! My special occasion dessert is New York Style Cheesecake. One year I ate an entire one myself - not in one sitting, of course; it took a few days!! :P
