Little Black Dress

Ray-Ban sunglasses, Banana Republic pumps, J Crew belt & bracelet, handmade necklace, Kenneth Cole clutch, Michael Kors watch, ?? Linen dress

I revived this black linen dress from my high school wardrobe last time I visited my parent's house and I couldn't be happier for countless reasons. The first is that it still fits! The second is that it's back in style. The last being that it brings to mind so many priceless memories of high school outings, graduation parties, and girls' nights out (with strict curfews, of course). I can't for the life of me remember where I bought it, but it has quickly become one of my favorite LBD's all over again. It really makes me want to hold on to all outdated item in my closet in the hopes that they will one day be back in style. (You'll probably see me in a few years on Hoarders). Do you have any of your old clothes/accessories that have come back in style?

You look so chic and sophisticated in that LBD. Such a classic look! I've got a similar dress I bought from Target for cheap and it was such a great purchase. I wear it all the time and manage to change it up by pairing with different belts, jewelry, shoes, cardigans, etc.

Have a great day pretty!

I have a family of hoarders (seriously) so I am an 'anti-hoarder' and have gotten rid of all of my old stuff(!)... expect this red dress. I wore it to my prom and I loved it because it was just plain red (I don't know if that was 'in' after the movie Pretty Woman, but at one time, red dresses were in!) and a classic style. I've worn it way after high school, at work events and on other occasions. I still have it, but I think I'm finally past the point of being able to wear it anymore:(... but the prom picture lives on. :)

Classic black dress, looks great! I keep clothes forever but my recent move was a big push to donate a lot of them...oh well!

I've never had the patience to keep things around. Once they come back in style I could kick myself :) Cute dress though!

I can't even tell you how often in my business I hear people say "I used to have one of those, I wish I had kept it!" I hear that a lot about vintage Pucci dresses. Here's my advise, if you have a piece that you love, that fits you well and looks great on you, keep it! No matter if it is in style, or out of style. If it is flattering, easy to work with and makes you feel like a million bucks, you'll wear it again when it comes back in style.

Lately, I've been buying duplicates for items I love just in case I wear them out. I'm someone who'd wear the same purse day in, day out until I'm tired of it. Weird, si?

Love your arms, you look amazing!

I love this post, Val! Isn't it the best when you find old clothing is back in style? I never would have guessed this is from high school! I remember wearing pieces just like this from Express (that was my go-to store in HS). I love that it still fits you :)

Omg...nothing of mine from h.s. still fits me! I was teeny-tiny back then! I don't know what the heck happened! :/ I do have a couple of linen dresses that I bought at least 10 years ago at.. Express! LOL! (what happened to that store? I use to love it when I was younger, and now it's kind of lame-o) I just wore one of my dresses with cropped leggings and flip flops to work the other day. It was the perfect tunic length, and comfy for my marathon photoshoot.
I love when I figure out new ways to wear old things!

Valerie, you look so polished in your LBD!
