Over the Top

Bren from Chasing Beauty gave me the Over the Top award last week and I'm so incredibly thankful and appreciative! She's a makeup artist and her blog is full of fascinating product and makeup tips, beautiful pictures, and stories about working at her dream job! Check out her blog when you have a chance, you'll love it!
8x8 Game:
The lovely Life as a California Wife tagged me for the 8x8 game on Monday!
Here are the rules:
1]. Go to your photos files and select the 8th photo folder.
2]. Select the 8th photo in that folder.
3]. Post that photo along with the story behind it.

When Gabe and I were first dating, he would photo shop our heads into funny pictures like this and e-mail them to me with a little story about the picture. I can't remember what the story behind this one was, but I'm assuming it had something to do with a dream he had. He did this every day for at least a year and always seemed to impress me with his creative stories and photo shop skills. The time, effort, and attention to detail he used in order to make me laugh are just a few of the many reasons I was hooked.

I'd like to pass this award and the 8x8 game to the following amazing bloggers whose posts and comments always make me smile. Visit their fabulous blogs and I know they'll make you smile too.

Cards, Chips, Dips, and Dorks

Gabe takes this game very seriously.

Gabe and I have a running game of Gin Rummy that we play every time we have a chance (and a deck of cards readily available). When I win, we mark the score down but when Gabe wins, I ask if we can call it a "wash". He usually gives in. For this reason alone, the games regularly end up somewhere near a tie.

Tapas, Wine, and Connect Four

In reminiscence of our trip to Spain in 2006, my husband and I decided to have a tapas date last night. We walked around our neighborhood in Santa Monica and had a few tapas and a glass of wine at different restaurants. Our first stop was Border Grill for happy hour (the lamb tacos were delicious). Next on the list was Bar Pintxo (an actual Spanish Tapas restaurant) for more wine, flat bread pizza, more lamb, and bacon wrapped dates. For the first time in my life, I understood what my mom means when she says, "That's SO rich, I cannot take another bite". I never thought it would happen to me, it must be a sign of my age. Then we were off to West 4th/Jane for our last glass of wine and connect four! I absolutely love games, so I was thrilled to see the bar tables covered in plastic game pieces and connect four boards. A bar that comes with board games? Thank you, God! Unfortunately for me, Gabe was more skilled in his connect four and he beat me almost every time.
