Scary Movie Marathon

Every year in October, Gabe and I have many scary movie nights with popcorn, hot chocolate, and lots of candy. We started over the weekend with Sleepy Hollow (thanks to Marcie for the recommendation) and The Omen, which were both creepy enough to make me scared of the dark for a few days. Next on the list is Halloween, Carrie, Rosemary's Baby, and Psycho. And if we have time after that we'll watch Seven yet again because it's my favorite scary movie ever. What are your favorite scary movies?

I don't really do scary movies because I'm a wimp, but off the top of my head, I remember being deliciously scared when I watched Cape Fear.

I love the idea of movie marathons except for the scary part! I think after watching 'It' and 'Candy Man' at a ridiculously young age, I've been hesitant to watch creepy movies even now that I'm all grown up. In fact, I stay away from haunted houses too. Ha :) How lame am I?

It's been years since I last watched Carrie but that IS scary... just that picture spooks me out! Um what about that film with Jack Nicholson, what was it called... The Shining..? Now that's also a favourite.

I can not watch scary movies! I used to when I was a kid b/c my 7th grade bff was (and still is) obsessed with them. But I find they give me the kind of anxiety I can really live without. Especially considering the fact that I live by myself!! My imagination gets carried away and then I have nightmares...blah, blah, blah I know..SO LAME. During halloween I love to have Harry Potter marathons! HA!! (i'm a total wimp!)

SPOOOOOKYYY!!!I think the Exorcist is one of the scariest of all time, but maybe that's because I was a kid when I first saw it.

I'm way too much of a baby to watch scary movies. I cant even watch previews for them!

I used to love scary movies when I was younger, but once I saw the Mothman Prophecies it scared me off watching them ever again. If you haven't seen that one, check it out. And then please tell me it's scary so I don't feel like such a wimp!

Not my favorite genre. Plus how do you watch a scary movie more than once? The suspense is gone.

Me and Chris are scaredy cats, but we love watching anything by Tim Burton. I just might have to rent Seven this weekend. I forgot just how yummy Brad Pitt was in that movie ; )

Love it, Val. I am so happy you liked Sleepy Hollow. I haven't seen Seven in years, but it is going on Netflix today. I am not sure I can stomach Rosemary's baby, but maybe, just maybe, I will try it out this year.

Great post!

OMG I just had a flashback to my high school years, watching all these horror movies! I've seen them all and I love them. I feel like as I get older, I become more of a baby though. I watched Jaws for the first time recently, and couldn't be alone for hours.

I despise scary movies, but somehow I have seen most all of these. I love your tradition and my bf and friends celebrate in simmilar fashion with a scary movie marathon on halloween.

It's funny because I grew up watching every scary movie in the book (my mom had no movie filter for us, with the exception of x-rated films). Her and my older brother dragged me to every movie possible.

But I stopped watching them altogether when I went through a little insomnia phase! I think I'm ready to start up again... slowly. In fact, we were just talking about how we think it's time for Jacob to see Poltergeist (a good starter for him and 'get-back-into-it' movie for me, right?). We watch Parenthood (w/ Craig T. Nelson), and realized that it's been years since we've seen this movie!

I love your tradition:).

Seven and Carrie are soo scary. I also LOVE Scream, and any of those SAW movies although I watch them with my eyes closed usually. Chucky used to really freak me out as a kid.

Jess said...

I still love Scream ;) I've been wanting to see Seven too...

Scary movie marathons always sound fun to me around halloween, but then I remember how scared I get / how many nightmares I have afterwards... best for me to stick with happy / romantic chic flicks haha!

I just can't even do scary movies. Films from my childhood still scare me -- it doesn't get much worse than "Hocus Pocus" for me!
