I've always loved the rain IF I can be inside, in cozy clothes, watching movies, and drinking hot apple cider. But when I have to be driving, walking, running errands in it, the rain isn't my friend. Until last winter when I bought a pair of rain boots and my outlook on rainy days changed entirely. I now welcome the rain and any excuse to wear my rain boots and trench coat! This week has been rainy and gloomy in LA and although I was caught without my gear yesterday, I'm now fully decked out in water resistant attire and even splashing in a few puddles. Writing this reminds me of one of my favorite Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey.

"As a young boy, when you get splashed by a mud puddle on the way to school, you wonder if you should go home and change, but be late for school, or go to school the way you are; dirty and soaking wet. Well, while he tried to decide, I drove by and splashed him again."

I love your picks! I really need to get a pair of Hunter wellies! That trench coat with the fur is really nice, too, and I think I should branch out and get a colourful umbrella!

Love that you ended with a Jack Handey Deep Thought :) I so want a pair of Hunter's, but I never walk around in the rain! Your whole staying inside in comfy clothes with a hot drink? That's more my rainy day plan!

So true Valerie! Rainy days spent at home, watching movies with something baking in the oven is perfection to me. Rainy days spent on the 10 fwy is my worst nightmare! If only I didn't have to go to work. Hunter's do make playing in the rain more fun though! Love the MJ bag and that McQueen skull ring!

I definitely need to invest in a pair of Hunter boots so I don't ruin all of my leather and suede boots splashing through puddles!

I realized yesterday I would enjoy the rain a lot more if I was more prepared for it ie umbrella and rain boots. We So Cal girls just don't know how to do it haha. We are too spoiled the majority of the year. CUTE outfit ensemble Valerie! HUGS

I'm constantly on the search for the best rain jacket. I am looking for something that is a flattering trench, yet has a hood. I'm still searching!!!

Love your set! The A McQueen brass knuckle set is incredible. Have you seen it in clutch form? I'm sure you have, but Hahn from Life in Travel has an amazing clutch with those rings attached.

I'm the same way! I've been in heaven this week because I work from home, but when I have to run out to get things done, it's so not pretty!
These rain accessories are so cute and just reminds me that I really need a new pair of wellies!

have a great day Valerie!

Valerie-perfect timing on this post. It is raining here in Boston and I am going to put on my cute BR trench and Hunter rain boots since unfortunately I have to be out. (even though I'd rather sip apple cider and watch a movie!)
Love the yellow umbrella too.

This is so true! I love the rain when I have a stylish umbrella and cute rain boots. Plus, when it rains, I wear a cute hat so it erases the whole "bad hair day" thing. Who knew the rain could make us look so good!

Love those boots and the yellow umbrella. Great post!

Yes, I agree with Gabe; Jack is a very wise fella. :)

LOVE those boots! We need a "Valerie rainy day outfit" (that's a blog post request btw), so I can see how you wear your boots!! I do want to get some but haven't yet... maybe this year's the year. And you're right- being stylish, cute, and rain-ready, makes it much more bearable... get to feel *a little like a New Yorker:).

Oh- I forgot to tell you!!! I got the purple Tucker dress @ Target. Last week, when I visited my friend, I spent the entire day shopping (on my way back... she was at her work event). Target was my last stop. I quickly tried it on (just for fun) and was surprised that I liked it (on me!). I then went out and asked the Target girls (not expecting the best "service" but I was desperate for an opinion since I was alone) if I looked like I was in my bath robe. They said "NO!" and actually we're very helpful... so I bought it! I thought it'd be perfect for Thanksgiving, or other fall dinner parties (now we just need an invite:), where I wanted to dress up a little, but still be casual and comfortable. Thanks for inspiring me!

Ooh that coat is too cute! I guess fall is here? Can I safely bust out my warmer gear or are we gonna have a 113 day again? lol. Crazy L.A.!

I got a pair of Navy Blue Hunter's a few years ago, but they sat there and collected dust because it rarely rains in LA. I ended up selling them on ebay and now everytime it rains I think of them. Lucky for us those days are rare!!

I've been wanting a pair of Hunter rain boots for so long - but can't decide what color to get them in!!
My husband and I went to a football game this weekend where it started pouring at our tailgate :( I was mad at myself for putting off that Hunter purchase for so long, because I was miserable in my Uggs!
