Simplifying Technology

{via}

I'll be the first to admit, technology isn't my strong suit.  I try to keep up and stay "relevant" but it's just not me to be on the cutting edge with these things.  I recently read an article in the NY Times about how spending just a few hours now can streamline and simplify your technology needs for the entire year and beyond.  Making simple changes such as switching from Internet Explorer to Firefox or Google Chrome and setting up a free file-sharing service can drastically cut down your time online and give you more free time to read a book or grab coffee with a friend.  What a great concept!  I'm already on hold with the people at Time Warner asking for a free upgrade in my internet speed.  Read the entire article here.

Great point. I spend wayyy to much time online. In fact, my father-in-law gave me an ipad for Christmas which now means I have an ipad, a mac book, and an iphone. Mac overload? I think so....

And you are probably still on hold with Time Warner Cable! Great idea to start the new year on the right technological foot.

This is awesome! I'm not HUGE into technology so I love ways to make the time I spend using it more effective and to have more free time for things offline!

I was amazed while just away at the amount of people that carried an iphone, ipad or basically Apple anything. I mean everyone! I'll have to read this article. I hope you're having a great start to 2011!

Technology today, sometimes it's great how it connects people but then most of the time people spend too much hours online when they can go over to see each other personally. i will definitely be reading that link you shared. nice post by the way. =)

Great article! I love that it makes time for actual human contact! Jimmy and I were talking about the cyber space craze the other day and how soon we will be talking about the "good old days" when we people talked and didn't type to each other.

Val are you still on hold? I hope not. Yesterday I sat on hold with Verizon for 25minutes. WTH is that?? I thought it was customer SERVICE not customer sits on hold and hangs up because dinner is ready. argh!

You and I have talked about it already, but to be a broken record all I can say is let us gather together and spend less time online!!

I just do not get along with technology! I try and try...but I seem to be plagued with malfunctioning technological gizmos...and I just lack the knowledge and ability to deal with any kind of tech projects or issues. But I did recently download a new browser...and I do love my Google Chrome :)

This is a great post, and thank you for sharing that article. It's amazing that last year, I had no idea what a blog really was, no idea what twitter was, not on FB, not photo sharing, a VERY old desktop, a razor phone, a film camera, and now have "technologically updated" almost everything on this list- including a new smart phone!! I feel a blog post coming on... :)
